Kingston Custom finished its third and final art-deco BMW motorcycle: the « Good Ghost ».

Good Ghost is the third Phantom motorcycle designed by Dirk Oehlerking, which was built in the Kingston Custom workshop in Gelsenkirchen. An evolution of the design of the previous two Phantoms he created, named White Phantom and Black Phantom, the Ghost was developed on the request of a famous custom motorcycle investor and collector, Bobby Haas.

Haas specified to create it in grey color sporting the matching design but generating more speed compared to its other siblings. Therefore, instead of basing the Good Ghost on the BMW R80 (as was the case with the previous two Phantoms), he employed the 1980 BMW R100 RS and kept most of its chassis.

The Good Ghost is a marvel to look at, so imagine how much work has gone into its remarkable design. Dirk initiated by creating a structure with wire and tape and then hand-shaped it. He made his own fuel cell, placed the carbs inside the fairing, and installed K&N filters, custom intake manifolds, and stainless steel exhaust.

Up top is a tailored leather saddle, with upholstery covering the whole front, including a bespoke ‘dash.’ Flip it up to find a leather-lined cubbyhole to store a bottle of wine and a glass.

The Good Ghost will be a part of the Haas collection. Dirk says, “when you ride it, it feels like you are in a different time,” and he aspires to ride it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, as well.

Mark Sanderson is a skilled enthusiast from Carlton in North Yorkshire, UK, who has taken his passion for steam engines to a whole new level with his latest creation: a steam-powered motorcycle . Built entirely by himself over the course of five years, the motorcycle is a stunning example of Victorian engineering with a Steampunk design twist. What makes Sanderson’s motorcycle truly unique is its homemade steam engine, something that is rare to see in the world of steampunk-style motorbikes.

According to Sanderson, the boiler of the motorcycle is a 4″ Foster design, while the engine is all homemade using parts from a small Petter diesel engine. The end result is a professional-looking motorcycle that is both aesthetically pleasing and fully functional.

The motorcycle is a brute of a machine, with a large chimney that could potentially interfere with forward visibility. However, this doesn’t seem to be a concern for Sanderson, who recently took his creation out for a test drive, proving that it’s not just a stationary engine.

Gabriel Ø, The Steampunk Sidecar

Gabriel Ø is the name given to this stunning steampunk style sidecar. Straight out of the imagination of Italian 3D artists Lorenzo Gestri and Marco Furlanetto. Their 2010 concept continues to fascinate fans of the Steampunk genre and beyond.

The name Gabriel comes from the well known Archangel who was the inspiration for the design of several pieces including the silver head that adorns the front of the sidecar.

The design of the motorcycle is deeply influenced by steampunk culture, an artistic movement encompassing literature, fashion, cinema, music and product design. Steampunk is a subgenre of sci-fi that merges modern technology and Victorian atmospheres in a fantasy world filled with anachronistic mechanical creations.
Therefore, the way this sidecar is supposed to work is anything but conventional. The mathematical symbol Ø (zero or empty set) was added to the name to further highlight the impossibility to reproduce a similar vehicle in real life.

The Blastolene B-702 Is An Exceptional Handmade Roadster

Designed and created by Blastolene Brothers, the Blastolene B-702 is a 19.5 feet long and 94 inches wide handmade roadster enthused by French cars of the 1930s. Michael Leeds and Randy Grubb used a nickel-plated chassis to construct this huge machine.

Under the hood of the Blastolene B-702 is an 11.0L GM V12 petrol engine, also famous by the name “Twin-Six”. General Motors created it for its mid-size trucks six decades back. The engine pumps out a huge 650 pounds-feet of torque at just 850 rpm.

“Although the design is obviously European, the B-702 claims to be uniquely American,” mentioned Randy Grubb. “We borrowed the beautiful French curves and the classic essence of the Bugattis and Delahayes from the 1930s. We paired them with a gigantic 11L engine. This leads to the American version of these great classics. ”

The Blastolene B-702 appeared at numerous auto shows and impressed the crowd for its finest craftsmanship. The roadster was sold during 2015 Scottsdale auction for $550,000.

This Six-wheel Steam-Powered Boattail Roadster Is A Carefully Crafted Steam Machine

Today, we have an amazing six-wheeled steam-powered Boattail roadster for you, made by motorhead, Jim Belosic. Created in about four years, this steampunk uses a bare 1928 Ford Model A-frame and a two-cylinder steam engine. Apart from these parts, everything else is custom-built by Belosic.

The creator employed a 3.5-gallon boiler and two 400k-BTU burners to generate steam. The engine only generates 5 horsepower, so you can imagine how fast it can go with this much power.

The good thing is the car is street legal in Nevada, so if you plan to buy it, you can surely run it. But mind it, this is not your everyday car that can start and run with the push of a button. Its boiler needs to heat up for a good 45 minutes before it can run. And when it runs, it sips the fuel at a very fast rate; the 21-gallon reserve tank vanishes in just a 3-mile drive.

Damian Skotnicki, the Carlex Design’s founder and automobile designer, presents us ten unique Steampunk vehicles based on the Mercedes-AMG G63. Called the G63 Steampunk Edition, with this customized SUV, Skotnicki transports us way back to when products were elaborately handmade by skilled craftsmen. He states that this SUV is “the perfect choice for collectors fascinated with the art of jewelry, hand-craft, and fantasy,” and once you see the vehicle, you’ll know exactly why.

The G63 Steampunk Edition took 5,200 hours of labour. It features a copper roof and stunning 22-inch copper-colored rims. The roof cover, although not obvious at the first look, reveals remarkable craftsmanship by expert copper makers as well as designers and jewelers who engraved steampunk motifs on the roof. What’s amazing is that each G63 Steampunk vehicle will offer a distinct relief design on the roof.

The AMG G63 Steampunk Edition boasts some neat interior features as well, such as criollo-hued, hand-ornamented leather with no hint of plastic anywhere inside the vehicle.

Meet the classic 1949 Delahaye 175 S Saoutchik roadster built by Saoutchik for Concours circuit. The iconic 2-seat supercar was a sight to behold when it was first produced. Later it came under the possession of the English movie star Diana Dors.

What’s unique about the Delahaye was its contemporary beautification. You can see its wheels are almost hidden and its front has puzzling elements, which are completely contrary to our modern cars. The chrome was the name of the game during the time of its production, so it does feature this element at most places.

For almost four decades, the 1949 Delahaye 175 S Saoutchik roadster remained buried in a garage. In 2006, its owner made some efforts to source its main parts to rebuild it. Afterward, the car got its original engine and was presented for auction at Sports & Classics of Monterey with an approximated price of $4,000,000-$6,000,000 USD.

Black Pearl, A Steampunk Style Motorcycle Runs On Compressed Air

This bike is not powered by a real steam engine as you can read everywhere, it's actually powered by an air engine.

The Black Pearl is a Steampunk style motorcycle that takes up the design of the old steam locomotive. It was unveiled at the Bigtwin Bike Show in Rosmalen, Holland in 2014. Its builder Rene van Tuil, owner of the Dutch company Revatu Customs, was inspired by Colby Higgins’ Wreck Bike Train published in 2011.

This bike is not powered by a real steam engine as you can read everywhere, it’s actually powered by an air engine. The creator explains it in the video at the bottom of our article. (activate subtitles and machine translation)

The owner of Revatu Custom has been as faithful as possible to the design of the Wreck Bike Train. The final drivetrain, an exposed crankshaft that rotates the rear wheel by means of an eccentric pivot, mimics the engine of a steam train, both mechanically and visually. The addition of a bell and steam horn also does not detract from the spirit of the trains.

With more than 21 million cars sold, the Volkswagen Beetle has undoubtedly been one of the most popular cars since the beginning of its production in 1938. Numerous artists and mechanical enthusiasts have reinterpreted its design, adding their personal touch and recreating it.

By adapting the wings of an old beetle with an engine and chassis he built, Brent Walter created two adorable little motorcycles that he called Volkspod. People could discover his invention on instagram where he regularly communicates on the progress of his project.

“The original (green) has a 79cc motor and is more for looks than it is practical. The second (blue) one has more ground clearance and a 212cc motor. It is more practical to ride around on the road,” said Brent to Bored Panda
