“Leviathan – Ark of the Apocalypse,” is the name of this astonishing pirate ship. One of the most impressive sculpture Jason Stieva, tattoo and assemblage artist based in Whitby, has ever made.

I’ve always been intrigued by art and gothic architecture as far back as I can remember. Then I was introduced to the country of Europe in 1997 I’d never flown before, but I went ahead and bought a one-way ticket and a train pass, and headed out on a solo mission. I was instantly hooked on the atmosphere, the people, the architecture, the art galleries, the churches, the graveyards, and the catacombs.

Full-time tattoo artist, Jason Stieva is the owner of Shallow Grave Studios

I think that I have yet in my 71 years here on earth to have seen such a great artist as these people are and I would love to have one of the ships in my home but I could never afford anything so beautiful and wonderful as they are. I really love the Chess Set and would love to have one like it. The designers are fantastic. God has really blessed you all with the patience and imagination to do something like this. It has to take many man hours and dedication to have the mine and will to do something like this. They are truly beautiful and each piece is a master piece to be told about. Thank you for showing them to the world as I am sure that by the end of this piece that you have put up on these people they should never want for a penny again in their lifetime. God bless you all. And thank you for your showing of these beautiful items of art.

apparently it’s not.
From the depths of the blackest water come the opening credits to Black Sails directed by Karin Fong and Michelle Dougherty. A masterpiece of macabre, the intricate sculptures (created entirely with digital special effects) are captured in the midst of an epic battle; skeletons and pirates, locked in a conflict of the ages.

I feel this piece was in part inspired by the intro scene of black sails. Even though the two are very different, the resemblance does show
