Derek aka Dickie, owner of MasterGlasster, a shop on Etsy, has created this beautiful R2D2 lamp in the Tiffany style. Tiffany lamps are considered part of the Art Nouveau movement. The first lamps of this style created by Louis Comfort Tiffany were first seen in 1893 and became very popular.

From the artist : The shade has a diameter of 16 inches and sits around 7 inches tall; with the base and harp it stands approx 21″ tall (give or take an inch or so).. Lamp consists of about 500 individual cut glass that i grind into to shape, outlined with copper foil, and soldered together. A brass ring is added to the bottom for stability and finally the lead is finished with a black patina to really make the glass pop. Allow 3-4 weeks to build.

To make his lamps, Dickie uses the same technique and hardware that Tiffany Studios use to create some of the most memorable stained glass lamps known.

One of these lamps had found a home at the Rancho Obi-wan Star Wars Museum and can be seen in the background on episode one of « The Toys That Made Us » on Netflix.

with a base that narrow, i wonder how stable it is….looks like if the table got bumped, it would topple and shatter.
